Stephen Bartol is a Co-Founder of Sentio and is the CEO and Chairman of the Board. Dr. Bartol is also a practicing orthopedic spine surgeon with more than two decades of experience. Following many years in private practice in Canada, where he developed extensive expertise in MIS procedures and neuro-monitoring techniques, he joined the Henry Ford Medical Group in 2003 where he is currently the Division Head for spine surgery.
Dr. Bartol has initiated a number of successful start-ups. He was the founder of an IRB and a CRO in Ontario, Canada. He was a founding partner of BioKinetics Canada, an orthopedic soft goods retailer and he founded MedAccess Solutions, a health services company in Canada. In 2012 he became the founding Director of the Michigan Spine Surgery Improvement Collaborative, a statewide quality improvement project and one of the nation’s largest outcomes database registries for spine surgery. In 2013 he joined the Henry Ford Innovations group as a consultant where he has since led the development of international joint venture start-ups for the Henry Ford Health System.
Dr. Bartol has an undergraduate degree in physics and an MD from Dalhousie University in Halifax Canada, where he also completed his Orthopedic Surgery training. He is a Senior Fellow with the American Hospital Association’s Health Research and Education Trust. He has an MBA from the Richard Ivey School of Business at The University of Western Ontario.
